Find out below on how to apply for FNHAM
Fellowship of the National Heart Association of Malaysia (FNHAM) was started to address the need for accreditation of cardiologists and heart specialists in Malaysia. Back in April 2007, we conferred the first batch of 74 Fellows, honouring peers and among them many are pioneers in cardiology in Malaysia. In the subsequent years FNHAM is awarded to applicants in recognition of his/her achievement in the field and contribution for betterment of cardiovascular care and advancement in line with the vision and mission of NHAM. To date we have successfully conferred 242 fellows.
Applicants for the FNHAM were individually evaluated as per their training in suitably recognized institutions, the duration of training, exposure to appropriate disciplines in cardiology and the ability to meet the requisite number of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the course of their training. Following completion of their training applicants were evaluated as to the duration of service as independent cardiologists and their competency to perform invasive and non-invasive procedures. Contribution to research and publication will also be taken into account.
Comments from referees with regards to training, ethics, competency, research, publication and leadership in the course of their work and good standing with respect to their peer relationship and patient doctor relationship are important determinants for this award.
We encourage NHAM members to apply for the Fellowship. It’s a prerequisite for NHAM to support their application for other prestigious fellowship such as Fellowship of Asean Federation of Cardiology (FAsCC), Fellowship of American College of Cardiology (FACC) and Fellowship of European Society of Cardiology (FESC). The Committee will also withdraw the Fellowship should it be warranted.
Election to Fellowship is determined by the NHAM Fellowship Credentialing Committee, and applications are welcomed on a rolling basis.
